Sixty percent of the 109 Singapore respondents said they surf the Net and use wireless devices like handhelds and cell phones regularly, with 25 percent of the respondents using them every day.
Euro RSCG, which conducted the study, interviewed 1,830 people from 19 cities.
The researchers also drew up a list of "up and comers," which included Berlin, Paris and Shanghai, reported The Straits Times. However, the article did not specify the criteria for each category.
A third of respondents in Asia Pacific thought that developing technology was more important than promoting culture. But despite this enthusiasm, respondents also had some mixed feelings about technology.
Almost 40 percent thought technology was harmful to people's sense of humanity, and nearly half saw it as a danger to personal privacy.
And while cyberspace is widely thought to be a great disseminator of information, old economy "word of mouth" still beats the Internet--a third of respondents said they get their technology information that way, compared with just 20 percent who use Web sites.
