Software developers, programmers and analysts make up the biggest figures of the occupational grouping breakdown, followed by sales and marketing managers. The third highest is technical support staff.

A survey conducted last May by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC), the body tasked to chart the development of the MSC, showed that demand for experienced employees was higher (70 percent) compared to fresh graduates.
It showed that the 87 percent employed by MCS-status companies were Malaysians while the remaining 13 percent were foreigners with the highest number of them coming from India.
The survey was targeted at 508 active companies of the 650 MSC-status companies at that time. A total of 461 responded.
The number of MSC-status companies now stands at 745, including 53 world-class companies.
The outcome of the exercise, aimed at assessing the performance of MSC-status companies, appeared in this month’s special edition of MSC.comm magazine.
It also showed that up to May 15 this year, 407 companies had a total sales of RM5.65bil, of which RM4.27 billion (US$1.12 billion) were local sales with RM1.38 billion (US$363 million) export sales.
The highest export was to Asean countries, followed by Hong Kong, the United States, Europe, China, Japan, India and West Asian countries.
