The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC)'s decision will come into effect in mid-August, BBC News reported.
Once the plan is in place, DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) from Hynix, the world's third-largest memory chipmaker, will be subjected to additional tariffs of 44.7 percent, the report said.
The USITC's verdict stemmed from an earlier finding that the South Korean government had unfairly funded Hynix's DRAM production, a move which it felt contributed to the worldwide decline in DRAM prices.
According to the report, Hynix has expressed its disappointment with the decision and plans to bring this dispute to the World Trade Organization or the Court of International Trade.
