“We are investing about US$30 million for this Asian-wide initiative. Our target for Malaysia is 30 ISVs, while for South Asia it is 100 ISVs,” said VR Srivatsan, managing director, Oracle Malaysia.
In terms of the criteria used to select the partners, Oracle is open to all industries but is looking out for local ISVs with a strong capacity to grow, Srivatsan said.
Oracle, Sun and AMD will assist and mentor these ISVs to develop and commercialize homegrown solutions based on Oracle 10g technology and hardware provided by Sun on AMD technology. The companies will also provide support, training and development, as well as resources to help their partners expand globally.
Companies that Oracle has helped include banking solutions provider Infopro, insurance applications provider Pentasoft and retail applications vendor QR Retail.
Niche vertical applications which Malaysian ISVs have developed solutions for include retail point-of-sale, legal and litigation, process manufacturing, telemedicine and telehealth, e-procurement systems, inventory management and analytical reporting.
