If you have experience installing RFID technology, the industry needs you.

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) is looking for 50 to 100 "subject matter experts" to assist in creating an industry-standard certification for RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, said Yeow Cheng Lian, CompTIA's regional director for Southeast Asia.

Participants will help draft questions for the examination paper which CompTIA hopes, will be ready for its first "beta rollout" by September this year, she said.

If all goes as schedule, the industry's first vendor-neutral certification that validates a technician's RFID knowledge and skills will be launched in the first quarter of 2006, Yeow told ZDNet Asia. The certification is aimed at certifying a person's knowledge in areas such as installation, maintenance, repair and upkeep of RFID hardware and software.

She noted that the initiative is in response to a worldwide lack of skilled integrators who have the education and expertise to design, deploy and manage RFID networks.

Those interested can contact Yeow, or visit the CompTIA Web site for more information.
