The world's second-biggest cellular company sold 60,000 more shares. DoCoMo initially said it would sell 400,000 shares after setting the price of the stock on February 5 at 2.066 million yen.
Investors applied for about three times the amount offered. DoCoMo will sell the extra shares to investors outside Japan under an option given to its bankers known as a "greenshoe." The company began the sale in January to raise money to help pay for its US$9.8 billion purchase of a stake AT&T Wireless Group of the US.
International investors applied for four times the 70,000 shares offered to them and the 50,000 of the 60,000 additional shares offered. Investors in the US applied for almost three times the 70,000 offered to them and the 10,000 additional shares.
DoCoMo's shares fell 3.4 percent today to 2 million yen.
