This is the second contract Dancom has secured from Telekom Cellular for VCE delivery.
Dancom had previously supplied similar equipment to Telekom Cellular last year in a RM3.8 million (US$1 million) deal. Thursday's deal will commit Dancom to design, install test, commission, maintain and provide support services for Telekom Cellular's VCE.
Telekom Cellular chief executive officer Mohd Khir Harun told reporters the VCE would enable TMTouch to reduce congestion on its networks and expand capacity without the need to add more lines by multiplying individual circuit capacity by eight times
"This measure will lower our operating costs and eventually allow us to offer more competitive pricing for consumers. A bigger capacity also allows for better network coverage."
He added Dancom got the contract based on its track record in delivering telco systems and IT solutions with good after sales support.
Dancom Telecommunications is a subsidiary of the Dancom Group of Companies, which started in 1985 as a distributor of mobile communication devices.
