High Tech Computer (HTC) has announced the latest handset in its Touch line, the Touch Cruise.

Launched on Monday, the device is the first handset in the range to include GPS and FM radio. TomTom navigation software is also included.

"The original HTC Touch has already been a phenomenal success, and the HTC Touch Cruise, with fully integrated GPS, adds another dimension to our leading touchscreen-device family," said Florian Seiche, HTC's European vice president, on Monday.

"We firmly believe in the importance of choice--one device does not fit everyone's needs--and we're proud to have been able to launch three HTC Touch devices since June," Seiche said.

The first Touch handset was released in June as the Taiwan-based manufacturer's first real foray into the consumer market. Like most of the manufacturer's other devices, the Touch runs Windows Mobile, but it also sports a media-centric interface called TouchFLO, which many saw as an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of Apple's iPhone.

Another version of the handset, the Touch Dual, came out in October. This device sports a physical keyboard, thus overcoming one notable drawback of many touchscreen-only devices. It also boasts HSDPA connectivity, which is faster than the Edge connectivity to which the original Touch was limited.

The Touch Cruise also uses HSDPA, and will be available SIM-free through operators later this month. Running on a 400MHz processor with 128MB of RAM, the handset also includes a 3-megapixel auto-focus camera and has a microSD slot for expandable memory.
