With a total investment of US$415 million, Huawei will set up the world's largest data processing center and 3G R&D center in Nanjing.

Occupying more than 1600 mu, the new center is located in Nanjing Yuhua Science Park, which is one of the largest science and technology parks in China and is expected to host more than 300 high-tech enterprises by 2010.

Apart from Huawei, a dozen of other famous software companies including Neusoft and China National Software & Service Co., Ltd. have also begun to set up their R&D centers in the park that is known for its advantageous geographic location.

After a few years of waiting for the network to finally arrive, 3G in China appears to soon be available to users. China Mobile said it has fulfilled its commitment to providing 3G service for the Beijing Olympic Games by delivering 15000 Samsung TD-SCDMA mobile phones and related services to the Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee.

And during the signing of a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Municipal Informatization Commission, China Mobile recently disclosed that the company would build more than 3000 3G base stations in Shanghai and apply such advanced wireless broadband technology as Wi-Fi and HSDPA throughout the city's wireless infrastructure. A representative from China Mobile (Shanghai) said that China Mobile would construct 3000 TD-SCDMA base stations in Shanghai this year as a part of its effort to realize full wireless broadband coverage of the city.
