The bags, which go on sale tomorrow on the at the Web site, come in six models and range in price from $29.99 to $79.99. Each has special padding for carrying laptop computers.
"As the Amazon.com brand evolves, offering branded merchandise is an important and exciting step," said Amazon vice president and general manager Mary Morouse, in a statement.
The company is likely to expand its line of corporate brand products and could eventually carry exclusive labels with brand names other than Amazon, she said. The company currently sells books, videos, CDs, toys, and electronics.
The bag collection includes a shoulder tote, messenger bag, backpack, and a mono-strap bag, which has a single, fixed strap. The Seattle-based company also will sell a computer backpack, with a large pocket for modems and other computer peripherals, and a computer "briefcase," with space for books, binders, and file folders.
Amazon shares rose 0.31 to 65.56.
