SINGAPORE--Hong Kong Internet content company asiacontent.com today announced its acquisition of Korean online advertisement company Kinopia to enter the Korean market.
Said asiacontent.com chief executive, Christopher Justice: "asiacontent.com gains an important presence in the key market of Korea, which is now behind only Japan in terms of speed of growth in the Internet business in the region."
Through asiacontent.com, Kinopia will also expand its Internet advertising services into the region.
The company declined to say how much it paid for Kinopia.
Established in May 1999, asiacontent.com provides Internet content and advertising services in Asia. Currently, its operations are in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. It is expanding into India and China next year. Its Singapore affiliate Tricast owns multiple-language Asian sites for MTV, CNET and E!Online. asiacontent.com also recently started a joint venture called Double Click Asia with Double Click to provide Internet advertising services in Asia.
Kinopia was formed in January 1995. It provides online advertising services for Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, LG-Caltex Oil, and Cathay Pacific Airways.
