SINGAPORE--Singapore Telecom will cut rates for international fax services from Wednesday.
Users of FaxPlus 012 who fax to China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand will see a reduction of up to 38 percent in tariffs. The service will also be extended to Malaysia from Wednesday.
FaxPlus 012 uses real time data compression technology which optimizes network efficiency. To fax, customers use the prefix ?12? The call will be connected to SingTel’s fax server which will transmit the data to the destination fax number. Charging starts only when the call is connected.
Users of another service--FaxPlus Connect--will see a reduction of up to 42 percent for destinations such as Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.
The FaxPlus Connect service is an Internet Protocol (IP)-based fax service. It is available to over 200 destinations, and gives users the choice of sending faxes using fax machines, PCs or via email networks.
SingTel's vice president of corporate products Lim Eng said: "A total of about S$1 million savings will be passed back to our customers."
