Internet analyst Shaun Andrikopoulos has left Deutsche Banc Alex Brown to join an Internet start-up.

Andrikopoulos, who joined the investment bank in 1994, will head global strategy at the new company. He declined to provide further details, noting that more information will be released on the venture in the coming weeks.

"I've been at Deutsche Banc for six years and I plan to leverage that experience at the start-up in a senior role," Andrikopoulos said.

During the past year, several high-profile analysts have left firms as the industry has undergone consolidation and Net start-ups have offered lucrative opportunities.

Danny Rimer, a former Internet analyst with Chase H&Q, resigned last November to join the Barksdale Group, founded by former Netscape chief executive Jim Barksdale. The Barksdale Group concentrates on Internet-related deals.

Rimer joined the investment group as a general partner and advisory director to Chase H&Q, which took an investment in the Barksdale Group.

Also last November, Internet analyst Steve Harmon founded E-harmon.com to invest in private and public Net companies. Harmon previously worked as an analyst at publisher Internet.com.

In June, Internet analyst Andrea Williams left Volpe Brown Whelan to join E*Offering, the investment banking arm of online brokerage E*Trade. Williams, however, has since joined Deutsche Banc Alex Brown as an Internet analyst.
