SINGAPORE--Sun Microsystems Asia South is giving away its Start-up Essentials Servers package worth US$55,000 (RM209,000) for free to companies in this region as part of its iForce initiative.

With an investment of US$20 million (RM76 million) over the next two years, iForce is aimed at helping enterprises expand their businesses using the company's integrated portfolio of services like applications, hardware, software, services and solutions.

Sun's Start-up Essentials Servers package comes complete with a server, Web and e-commerce software, consultation and integration services.

Companies must meet two sets of criteria set by Sun in order to be eligible for the free package. The first:

•  Must be a member of the Sun Developer Connection Program
•  Commit to train sales and pre-sales staff on Sun products and technologies
•  Commit to have at least two engineers trained and certified on Solaris
•  Agree to joint business planning with Sun on go-to-market strategy

As for the second criteria, companies would also have to have a staff strength of not more than 75, and the company should not be in operation for more than three years. Further details will be provided in near future, said a Sun spokesperson.
