KUALA LUMPUR--A local warehousing, logistics and distribution company Tamadam Bonded Warehouse became the first of its type to dotcom a business, with the launch of a business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce site, 18all.com.

Its managing director Cheam Heng Cheang told Malaysia.CNET.Com since the site has been getting an average of one thousand hits a day. The site comes complete with an online shopping offering.

Customers can browse for a variety of electrical appliances comprising more than 70 brand names and they are guaranteed, Cheam said, overnight delivery of products anywhere in Klang Valley and Penang.

He said 18all.com did not have hidden costs that would affect prices. In addition, delivery is free of charge in the peninsula for all items less than 30kg.

"18all.com's main attraction is the combination of products and information, competitive pricing and as well as convenience and quick delivery," he said.

"Even if they don't make a purchase, they can still check the latest appliances at the latest prices. Our site also provides a lot of consumer tips," Cheam added.

Surfers can also make their orders using the credit cards now that 18all.com's payment gateway uses the popular SSL technology.

Cheam said the system was secure. He said there were a few attempts to trick the system which was prevented by the SSL technology.

"For people still unsure of using their credit cards via the Internet, they can simply make their orders on the Web and pay cash or by credit card once the product arrives at their homes," he said.

18all.com is run by a small 10-man team and expects to make profits by the end of next year.
