The portal which started out as a coupon redeemer Web site, now hopes to provide e-consultating services to a host of enterprises, including the retail and travel industry.
Chairman Wan Ahmad Saifuddin told Malaysia.CNET.com the realization has hit small and medium industries that businesses need a "dotcom" side to grow side by side with the brick and mortal businesses.
E-One Thousand Dot Com's new division called Qubique, he said, was in an ideal position to tout e-business solutions as the portal possesed vast technical, creative and marketing knowledge which would be of great help to clients as it has been operating as a pure-play dotcom in Malaysia for the last 12 months.
He likened Qubique as a "one-stop-shop", integrating offerings from reseach houses, software and hardware providers, e-business consultant, advertising agency and content provider under one roof.
"They (prospective clients) can test their applications on our e1000.com site so as to cut short trial and error period. We know the Internet and can tell them what works and what doesn't," Wan Ahmad added.
He said the strength of Qubique compared to other end-to-end solutions was that the knowledge acquired was hard earned, a situation Wan Ahmad claimed puts E-One Thousand in a better position to teach companies how to "dotcom" their businesses.
"Businesses which don't evolve and grow along with the Internet will surely die. The convergence of multimedia and technology has resulted in exciting possibilities not envisioned in the past," he stressed.
The portal's Web site is getting something like 1.2 million hits per month, according to Wan Ahmad. He said this figure was expected to rise significantly after the company's advertising and promotion blitz begins next month.
Its site is a free membership site focused on transaction-centric relationship between merchants and end-users, in which E-One Thousand Dot Com captures users' future marketing needs to aid big brands. Among the companies it features are Automobile Association of Malaysia, Haagen Dazs, Piccolo Mondo, CK Tangs, Hong Leong Assurance and Shiseido.
A New Zealand investment firm Brieley Investments Limited (BIL) recently pumped in almost RM5 million into E-ONe Thousand Dot Com for an equity stake in the dotcom.
