KUALA LUMPUR--JobsDB.com plans to move the online career search experience a step up by introducing live interviews via its recruitment site for Malaysian job seekers.

The new service allows job seekers who register with JobsDB.com, to be interviewed by potential employers either via video or voice-only communications, a feature that should be especially attractive to candidates who would otherwise have to travel to meet their potential employers.

"Live interviews will help speed up the recruitment process as it helps cut down on travel time. We're confident the service will receive good response in Malaysia," said Nelson Poon, chief operating officer and director, JobsDB.com.

This is the first time the Hong Kong-based company is offering such a service in Asia. Towards this end, it has tied up with iBroadNet.com Sdn Bhd who will provide its Interact technology which enables live, real-time multimedia interactive streaming technology.

iBroadNet.com chief executive officer Lim Say Thean said in addition to the live interviews, candidates can also securely post documentation (eg. certificates) online if required by potential employers for verification purposes.

"Multi interviewers from different locations can also sit in the same interview session with the one candidate," Lim said, adding iBroadNet.com and JobsDB.com were at the final stages of putting together the mechanism for the live interviews and should be completed within the next two to three months.

Potential candidates would undoubtedly have to equip their PCs at home with a camera and microphone to take full advantage of a live interview session. They do not pay a single cent for the service; only the employers will be charged.

JobsDB.com will soon roll out other new services on its recruitment site, two of which are a resume management system for the employers and a talent market application for the job seekers.

The talent market application will enable job seekers express themselves better and hone in more specifically on the job functions they might prefer, Poon said after sealing partnerships with seven Malaysia Internet companies today to further extend JobsDB.com reach globally.

The partners are Internet service provider Mimos Bhd, iBroadNet.com, Internet applications provider Ivoli.com, information and entertainment portal Netvigator.com, news site for developing countries Sibexlink.com, IT community portal SinarIT.com and search and information aggregator Skali.com.

JobsDB.com will leverage on the traffic its seven partners will garner on their Web sites, drawing over 10 million page views per month.

According to Poon, the partnerships are based on information dissemination and not on revenue-sharing, models. They are also non-exclusive which means the seven firms are free to forge similar tie-ups with other recruitment site operators.

To date, JobsDB.com operates in 10 countries which combined, posts online 30,000 jobs monthly and attracts about 390,000 unique visitors to its sites per month.
