That was just one of several domain names the World Intellectual Property Organization (Wipo) awarded to the airline in a cyber-squatting tussle. Singaporegirl.com had been used by dating Web site run by American Robert Nielsen.
Singaporeairlines.org, singaporeair.net and singaporeair.org had also been registered earlier by European Travel Network.
Wipo, however, decided that the US-based company had acted "in bad faith", said New Zealand Wipo panelist Ian Barker. "It is hard to imagine a more blatant exercise in cybersquatting," he said. European Travel was ordered to transfer the names back to Singapore Airlines.
The airline also managed to wrest the singaporeairlines.com domain name back from Spanish company P&P Servicios de Communication.
Cable company Singapore Cable Vision Ltd also managed to win its dispute with fellow local company Allied Pacific Singapore Technologies over the domain name singaporecablevision.com. Wipo presiding panelist Moon Sung Lee called the use of the domain name by Allied Pacific "an attempt intentionally to attract, for commercial gain, Internet users to its own Web site", The Straits Times reported.
The rulings for both companies were released on Wednesday.
