Established in September 2000, RosettaNet (Singapore) is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing open, Internet-based standards on processes within high-tech industries such as IT, electronics and semiconductors.
In its first phase, the e-learning center will allow RosettaNet's 104 member companies here to access its Web site and retrieve details on the various business processes in the IT, electronics and semiconductor industries, on a topic by topic basis. There are also self-conducted training packages. Access to the site is restricted by password.
By yearend, the organization expects to see its online training sessions utilized about 500 times.
In its second phase, which should roll out in January 2002, the course structure will have participants logging on to the site simultaneously with a lecturer or "guru" on any given topic.
During such a session, participants can interact, or raise any issues amongst themselves, or with the trainer.
After the second phase is launched, RosettaNet anticipates 200 training sessions for the whole of next year. The organization expects its local membership to hit 300 in 2002.
Membership to the local chapter costs US$3,000 per annum, while Asia members pay US$10,000. There are global members, who pay US$35,500 for access to training and workshops conducted by Rosetta all over the world.
