Under the pact, which HP claims to be the largest managed services deal ever awarded in the country, the company will implement and manage a core banking system across the bank's 750 branches in India. The solution is largely based on a financial application developed by India-based IT services and software giant Infosys.
The deal also calls for HP to undertake a slew of other projects including the building and management of the bank's new data center, disaster recovery facilities and a call center.
In a related announcement, Palo, Alto-based HP said it has made inroads into the banking sector in the mainland.
The company yesterday said it has sealed a five-year outsourcing contract with China Development Bank. Among other things, the deal will cover technical consulting, IT equipment outsourcing and technology systems management, HP said in a statement. A company spokeswoman said the value of this agreement is "just below US$10 million".

Great News. Just one thing. I don't think there is a Bank of India. Do you mean State Bank of India here.
Cheers
