The product comes integrated with Spark, an enterprise content management solution by FatWire Software. Content management tools typically help a company to catalog and reuse assets ranging from software codes to Web site content.
Spark was integrated into the offering since July last year as content management tools are increasingly being required by companies undergoing rapid expansion. "As companies expand regionally and globally, managing content becomes a more complex task. It is imperative that they manage it efficiently and effectively," said Mark Fasciano, president and CEO of FatWire.
Targeted at vertical sectors, Spark adds support for easy creation, editing, reviewing and publishing of information within the Sun portal environment. The content server will also enable organizations to reduce the cost of building and maintaining Web sites as well as facilitate storage, sharing, reusing and distribution of content across and beyond the enterprise.
Currently used by 55 customers in the Asia Pacific region such as Taiwan-based Far EastTone Telecommunications and PCCW in Hong Kong, Spark comes bundled free with five user licenses when companies purchase Sun's Java System Portal Server. Customers may also upgrade Spark for an additional US$25,000 per server for 25 users.
