The deal, one of largest technology contracts awarded by local authorities to date, is estimated to be around 3.41 billion rupees (US $75 million).
Under the agreement, TCS will design and implement a system that enables local companies to register and file their financial documents online with the Ministry of Company Affairs in India. The system will be deployed across various parts of India as part of the six-year deal, the firm said in a statement.
Buoyed by India's booming economy, the number of locally-registered companies has ballooned in recent years to around 650,000 today.
To cope with this growth, the Minister of Company Affairs said it hopes to transition from its current paperwork-laden processes to the new e-registration and filing system within the next three years.
