SINGAPORE--SingTel will collaborate with Noida Software Technology Park Limited (NSTPL), an Indian satellite teleport operator, to provide the carrier's e-learning services from India.

SingTel's interactive distance learning (IP Learn) is targeted at learning centers and content providers looking to deliver education content via digital audio and video broadcasting to various locations across Asia. NSTPL also develops e-learning content and services.

The Singapore telecommunications service provider will manage the satellite transmission systems from here, while NSTPL will oversee the delivery in India.

Marketed under India's Cosmic Campus brand, the e-learning service will be delivered via ST-1 satellite. Cosmic Campus is the country's virtual global university initiative.

J. K. Jain, group chairman of NSTPL, said in a press statement: "The Government of our country has made large-scale budgetary provisions for improving Health, Education and Economic productivity of our countrymen.

"It will be our endeavor through Cosmic Campus to provide simple and sound technological and managerial mechanism so that these vast sums of public funds are properly utilized for the intended beneficiaries."
