The release of Firefox 2.0 has been delayed until Oct. 24, with a Beta 2 release scheduled for Aug. 23, according to Mozilla.

The entire release schedule was shifted to deal with last-minute fixes. Some of the Firefox bugs still being addressed affect visual refresh, panel preferences, tab overflow, spell check and anti-phishing features, according to the Firefox 2.0 status meeting minutes.

A code freeze of Firefox 2.0 Beta 2 is underway, with a testing period running from Aug. 17 through 22, according to the Mozilla Developer's Calendar.

Firefox 2.0 was originally slated for a ship release of Aug. 15. In the meantime, Mozilla has tentatively moved up the Firefox 1.5.0.7 update to Sept. 7. Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 for developers is currently available for free download.
