First announced last month in the United States, the new products, which are aimed at consumers and small businesses, include Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton AntiSpam and Norton Internet Security.
Norton Internet Security 2005, which now comes bundled with the latest version of Norton AntiVirus, Personal Firewall and AntiSpam software, features new capabilities such as automatic, real-time alerts of high-level security threats, as well as a one-click feature to update the system to ward off the potential attackers.
To combat phishing, Symantec has included a new feature which allows users to create a "safe" list of Web sites that they regularly send personal information to. In the event that an unlisted site attempts to retrieve personal information through the Internet, users will be alerted immediately.
Norm Kohlberger, Symantec's senior regional product manager for consumer products in Asia-Pacific, stressed the new features are aimed at combating the rise in blended threats such as the Nimda worm, which relies on multiple methods to propagate. In addition, the new offerings will better protect users against bogus sites which attempt to steal personal information, he said.
Norton Internet Security 2005 and Norton AntiVirus are available at Symantec's online store at S$121.70 (US$71.50) and S$87 (US$51) and comes bundled with three user licenses.
Norton Personal Firewall and Norton AntiSpam cost S$87 (US$51) and S$69 (US$40.50) respectively and they will be available later this month.
