Early this month, the company opened its first China office in Beijing with two employees. Operations in Taipei, Taiwan and Seoul, Korea are also being planned this year, and the company said that its continued expansion is a result of the growing need for the efficient management of Web-based content, which is key to driving revenues.
The company's solution suite--including its flagship product TeamSite 5.5--allows content aggregation, collaboration, management and distribution. Customers in the region include Hong Kong Shanghai Bank, Singapore Telecommunications, Optus, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, Oversea Chinese Banking Corp, the Australian Tourist Commission, Singapore Airlines and Qantas.
Interwoven's global clients include Boeing, DuPont, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, ABN Amro, Barclays Global, Sony Computer, Nortel Networks, Cisco Systems, United Airlines, Stanford University Medical Center and the United States Postal Service.
The firm also recently added five executives to its regional management team. They are:
• Kawatani Tetsuyuki, managing director, Japan; previously director of Netscape Communications Japan
• Derek Hunter, director of alliances, Asia Pacific (Singapore-based); formerly in charge of alliances for Ariba Asia
• Danny Goh, director of sales, South Asia; ex-director of sales and professional services, CommerceOne Asia
• Jeong Beom Kim, managing director, Korea; the former general manager and CEO of Ariba Korea
• Lynette Seah, finance director, Asia Pacific (Singapore-based); previously held regional financial accounting positions with JDEdwards and DBS bank.
"The call to action for Interwoven in Asia-Pacific has been ongoing, as enterprises in the region look to adopt more sophisticated technology to improve their business practices," said Anurag Srivastava, Interwoven Asia Pacific vice president in a statement Friday.
Interwoven declined to disclose revenue projections for the year.
Founded by Singaporean Ong Peng Tsin in March 1995, the firm currently employs about 70 people in the region, including staff in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney.
