Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong launched the new three-year programme, dubbed e-government action plan II (eGAP II), according to a report from news agency AFP.
While the project aims to improve online form-filling and other services, its other goal is to make it easier for citizens to communicate with the civil service.
"On the social front, Singaporeans increasingly want to be heard in the deliberation of policies ... our government needs to become even more consultative and open," he was quoted as saying.
The project aims to bring to 90 percent the number of citizens who use the Net to communicate with various ministries.
eGAP I was launched in June 2000 with funding of US$850 million, according to news daily The Straits Times. So far, the scheme has provided for 1,600 online e-government services.
