Siebel Systems said on Friday that it has taken 175 orders over the past two
months for a new software subscription service,
Siebel
OnDemand, which it introduced in December. Sixty-two of the orders were from
new customers, the company added. The San Mateo, Calif. company inked 229
subscription deals in the first-three months of the year, according to reports.
Siebel OnDemand allows businesses to use the software maker's customer
service and sales applications for a monthly fee via the Web. Siebel's entry
into the so-called hosted software market follows a surge in demand for similar
services offered by Salesforce.com,
RightNow Technologies and others.
