IBM is offering to help companies adjust to major staff shifts with the anticipated retirement of many baby boomers over the next decade or so.

In addition to its business consultants, IBM said it would tap cultural anthropologists, researchers and social scientists.

The service, offered through IBM's business consulting unit, will combine demographic analysis with advice on employee retention, knowledge transfer and business operations, the company said. "As (the baby boom) generation becomes eligible for retirement, organizations risk losing major skill sets and their competitive advantage in the global economy," the company said in a statement.
