SINGAPORE--The Singapore Medical Council (SMC) is reviewing its ethical code of practice to bring it up to speed with the Internet age. While illnesses may be the same, computers could give doctors access to new resources, including consultation with specialists who are not available locally. The code of ethics would therefore have to state which of the doctors in such cases would be responsible for the patient, SMC president Dr Lee Suan Yew told The Straits Times.

Similarly, patients are also getting information on their ailments from the Web. Their surfing also puts them in a better position to assess and criticise their doctor's performance, noted Minister for Health Lim Hng Kiang. Lim advised doctors to update their medical skills, and to keep up old-fashioned qualities like "compassion, concern and professionalism."

The reaction to a report issued Tuesday by Flurry Analytics managed to completely overlook some interesting news--the Android-based Motorola Droid outsold the original iPhone over the same period of time following their respective launches--to focus instead on the sales numbers for the Nexus One.
