SINGAPORE--The Singapore Computer Society (SCS) unveiled today the winners of the country's industry awards for 2007, who include veteran and up-and-coming industry personalities.

Consisting of five award categories, the platform--dubbed the IT Leader Awards, aims to cultivate more IT talent and raise the public's awareness of the contributions by outstanding individuals, SCS said in a statement.

Winners of the five award categories include:

Person of the Year--Stephen Lim, CEO and managing director of SQL View,
Young Professional of the Year--Tan Min-Liang, CEO of Razer,
Friend of IT--Tan Kin Lian, former chief executive of NTUC Income,
Hall of Fame--William Liu, director of Green Dot Capital,
IT Youth--Ong Kok Choong and Sangar s/o Annadorai,

"[The award] is in recognition not of me, but of my team in NTUC income," said Tan Kin Lian, who is currently a full-time blogger. "Over the years, we were quite innovative in using IT. We were quite entrepreneurial [in the use of IT], did things very fast, [as well as] kept costs low."

To qualify for nomination, candidates were, among several things, expected to have contributed to the IT field in Singapore, as well as possess the qualities of leadership and integrity, and have a record of competent professional performance in their occupational capacity and area of specialty.
