Bumrungrad International

Southeast Asia's largest private hospital is making a name for itself outside the healthcare industry.

Last year, Bumrungrad Hospital's IT success story went on display at the Intel Museum, located at Intel's headquarters in Santa Clara, California.

The hospital has captured global attention, because unlike most hospitals in the world which are still using paper records and film for imaging, Bumrungrad uses Global Care Solutions' electronic medical record, hospital information and digital radiology systems to capture and manage patient data.

While many healthcare organizations talk about pursuing the holy grail--consolidating their disparate information systems onto a single platform--Bumrungrad Hospital has already done so. For the past four years, the hospital has been managing patient data on Hospital 2000, a single, integrated application developed by Global Care Solutions. In March 2005, the hospital rebranded itself as Bumrungrad International, reflecting its development into a global healthcare provider of clinical care, research, education and international hospital management.

Compared to its early days of being a 200-bed general hospital in downtown Bangkok, Bumrungrad International today serves not only the locals but a growing number of overseas patients. Providing world-class healthcare services to patients from over 150 countries, Bumrungrad International has helped to establish Bangkok as a regional medical hub.

Its Web site also reflects Bumrungrad's growing worldwide influence, boasting features that serve a more international community. The multilingual site allows patients to search a database of over 600 qualified physicians, make appointments by e-mail and keep up-to-date on the hospital's latest developments.
