The committee seeks to establish medium and long term IT development directions and policies; provide recommendations and decisions on technology investments that may have a considerable impact to the Bank; as well as ensure that technology development and implementation fits with the overall objectives of the Bank.
BCA provides customers with a broad range of electronic banking services that includes more traditional channels such as the automated teller machines (ATMs) and phone banking, as well as mobile banking and Internet banking. The bank's mobile banking service, m-BCA, acts as a personal BCA ATM, with the exception of cash withdrawal.
The bank also has a host of business-friendly services on its KlikBCA online banking system that cater to the needs of both large enterprises and small and midsize businesses. The KlikBCA Bisnis allows registered corporate users the convenience of conducting financial transactions online, with the help of a dynamic password generator to secure the transactions.
Within Jakarta, where data volumes are significantly higher, the bank employs wireless broadband infrastructure to ensure high-speed data communication between the head office and branches.
In 2005, BCA pioneered the use of chip-based credit cards in Indonesia's banking industry. The chips, embedded with microprocessors, was a demonstration of the bank's commitment to enhancing security for its cardholders. The migration from the use of magnetic-striped credit cards to that of the EMV (Europay-MasterCard-Visa) standard was intensified in March this year with the commercial launch of the EMV cards.
Also during the year, BCA initiated the development of new data and disaster recovery centers. The project is still underway and the centers are expected to commence operations in 2007.
