update SINGAPORE--Local operator M1 has confirmed it will be offering service bundles tailored for the iPad with Wi-Fi and 3G, when Apple is ready to launch the product here.

In a brief statement released Wednesday, M1 spokesperson Chua Swee Kiat said it will be offering "dedicated iPad price plans...in the coming weeks" but did not specify when exactly that would be or what kind of service bundles these would be.

Apple shipped over 3 million iPads since the tablet was launched in the U.S. on Apr. 3. The company last month extended the availability of the device to countries such as Japan, France and Australia, and is due to launch the iPad to more international countries later this month including Singapore, Ireland and the Netherlands.

But while the tablet has yet to be officially launched in Singapore, some local retail outlets have been selling iPad units at prices hovering around S$1,200 (US$869.40) for the 16GB Wi-Fi plus 3G version.

Where it is available, the unit is typically sold at Apple outlets and iPad users will have to subscribe to a data plan with their mobile operators to access the Internet via 3G.

When contacted, M1 declined to provide further details about its plans for the Apple tablet.

The mobile operator was the second local service provider to ship the iPhone here last year.
