Panasonic Toughbook Executive CF-T8
Reviews This 12.1in. ultraportable updates the CF-T7, but some key features are still missing, notably a wide aspect ratio screen, an optical drive and a webcam. If you need ruggedness and a touch-screen, then it's a reasonable choice. Otherwise, it's a little short on features.

Nokia N97
Reviews Although the Nokia N97 is packed with features, its clunky touch interface, sky-high price tag and outdated operating system make it hard to recommend when there are better touch-screen smartphones on the market.

Asus Eee PC 900
Reviews The Asus Eee PC 900 is an excellent update to the Eee PC 701. The keyboard is still difficult to use, but the addition of a larger, higher-resolution screen, a multi-touch touchpad and more storage gives it the edge over its mini-notebook rivals.

Sony VPL-FE40
Reviews The VPL-FE40 is an ideal projector for showcasing presentations, video and images in medium- to large-sized meeting rooms and auditoriums. The only downside is the cost, both to purchase and run, which will limit the VPL-FE40 to large organisations with big budgets.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-52
Reviews The Toughbook CF-52 is a solidly built 'semi-ruggedised' notebook, with a hardened outer casing, shock-mounted hard disk and covered ports. However, this 3.3kg system isn't the most portable of notebooks and its battery life falls a long way short of Panasonic's claims.

GETAC B300
Reviews Like many seriously rugged notebooks, the B300 is an expensive piece of kit. We particularly like the 'sunlight readable' screen option and touch-screen capability, although its 4:3 aspect ratio makes this 13.3in. notebook seem a little dated.

Dell Latitude E4200
Reviews Dell's smallest Latitude is a 1kg, 12.1in. ultraportable that benefits from a fast solid-state hard drive and integrated mobile broadband. However, it lacks an optical drive and, inexplicably, a webcam.

Sony Vaio VGN-Z11WN/B
Reviews Beautifully designed and reassuringly robust, the 1.5kg Vaio Z11 marries a decent-sized 13.1in. screen with good portability and integrated 3G/HSDPA. It's not flawless, but if you can afford it, buy it.

Samsung SyncMaster 172W
Reviews Compared to an XGA display, the SyncMaster 172W looks good, but it costs the same as a 1,280 by 1,024 resolution panel and doesn't offer the same viewable area, which is its undoing.

ViewSonic VG191b
Reviews ViewSonic's VG191b is a good display with a large screen area and enough adjustment to suit most working environments. There are other similar displays available, so shop around, but the VG191b should certainly be on your shortlist.

BenQ PalmPro 7763PA
Reviews Although it's compact and well priced, the PalmPro 7763PA isn't particularly suitable for home cinema, as it lacks most of the features needed to make movie watching a pleasure.
