For most technology buyers, the purchasing decision hasn't become any easier, especially with the fast-consolidating tech sector. In its third installment this year, ZDNet Asia's Top Tech Index is aimed at helping businesses make well-formed IT buying decisions by identifying the tech industry's movers and shakers.

Like our previous indexes in 2005 and 2006, we will identify the Top Tech 50 Companies for 2008/2009. These will highlight companies that have performed financially well, have a proven track record, and are firmly committed to the Asian market.

In addition to the Top Tech 50 Index, ZDNet Asia will also identify the Most Promising Asian TechnoVisionaries to recognize the potential and success stories of Asia's homegrown tech companies. To qualify for this segment of the awards, your company:

• must have products and/or services that are targeted at businesses
• must not be publicly listed
• must be headquartered or conducts its principal R&D activities in Asia

Among the nominations for the top Asian tech companies, ZDNet Asia will also hand out two special awards: IT Leader of the Year and R&D Champion of the Year.
