Founded in 1933 to research into the development of quality cameras, Canon today has firmly established itself as a global brand offering a range of consumer and office products such as printers, copiers and scanners.
Of its wide portfolio, digital imaging is what Canon is best known for today. According to IDC, Canon was the world's No. 1 digital camera brand in 2004. It sold more than 12 million digital cameras worldwide, garnering 17.6 percent market share.
Canon has also been successful in the printing arena. According to IDC, the vendor topped the worldwide multi-function printer (MFP) market, capturing 16 percent market share.
Despite its achievements, the company is not resting on its laurels. In addition to refreshing its lineup of imaging products regularly, the company is also quietly expanding its business solutions unit. The unit works with enterprise clients to create a more efficient digital information workflow in the office using output devices, such as Canon's MEAP-enabled (multifunctional embedded application platform) printers, to communicate with external document management software.
Given Canon's bullish run so far, one can expect the company to continue "delighting you always".
