Founded in 1984 and based in Waterloo, Ontario, Research in Motion (RIM) operates offices in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

RIM is a designer and manufacturer of wireless technologies for the worldwide mobile communications market. The company provides platforms and solutions that allow seamless access to time-sensitive information including e-mail, phone, SMS messaging, Internet and intranet-based applications.

With a team of approximately 1,000 dedicated R&D employees and an investment of approximately US$157 million in fiscal 2006, RIM continues to push the envelope on mobile communications capabilities.

In 2006, RIM announced revenue of over US$2.07 billion primarily from its BlackBerry wireless platform such as wireless devices, software and services. Available in over 60 countries, RIM's portfolio of products, services and embedded technologies include the BlackBerry wireless platform, the RIM wireless handheld product line, software development tools, and radio-modems.

RIM ranks among ZDNet Asia's Top 10 fastest-growing companies for 2006/07.
