This Korean electronics powerhouse is aiming to be among the "Global Top 3" companies in electronics as well as information and communications by 2010.
LG is among several leading consumer electronics companies that they are working together to develop a new standard for transmitting high-definition audio and video signals wirelessly. Called WirelessHD, the interface would enable high-speed streaming of audio and video content between consumer electronics devices like televisions, DVD players, game consoles and other portable devices without using cords.
According to IDC's first quarter report for 2006, LG Electronics came in fourth for market share with 6.9 percent.
In July 2005, the Korean giant signed a deal to license the Palm operating system globally. Under the agreement, LG can develop and market smart phones based on the Palm OS, the company said.
