LG Electronics is the world's fourth largest mobile–phone maker and South Korea's No. 2 electronics maker.

Founded in 1958, the company is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, and has 114 operations including 82 subsidiaries around the world.

LG Electronics' main business domains are consumer electronics, home appliances and mobile communications. The company has four business units: mobile communications, digital appliance, digital display and digital media, and some of its products include CDMA/GSM handsets, air conditioners, washing machines and flat panel TVs.

In July, the South Korean electronics powerhouse announced plans to fuse its PC and mobile phone divisions. The company intends to increase its focus on smartphones, ultramobile PCs and "network infotainment", LG said.
