Samsung

Founded in 1938, Samsung is the second-largest chip maker and No. 2 mobile-phone manufacturer worldwide.

The company is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, and has 337 offices and facilities in 58 countries, as well as employs 222,000 staff globally.

With a vision of "Leading the Digital Convergence Revolution", Samsung's portfolio includes memory chips and LCDs as well as audio-visual products, computers, telecommunication devices and home appliances.

The South Korean electronics products giant made a hostile bid to acquire SanDisk for US$5.85 billion in September, but was rejected by the U.S.-based computer chip maker. Samsung later withdrew its offer, citing an increasing "risk profile".

This company is listed in Systems, Data storage management, Networking & Communications.
