SAP is the No. 1 enterprise software maker in Europe and the world's third largest.

Best known for its SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, the enterprise software giant was founded in 1972. It is headquartered in Walldorf, Germany and has 51,447 employees in over 50 countries serving more than 76,000 customers worldwide.

In July, SAP announced that it will wind down TomorrowNow, the third party support subsidiary it bought over in 2005, by Oct. 31, following long-running legal case with archrival Oracle.

For the third quarter ended Sep. 30, the German software company posted a 5 percent drop in net income to 388 million euros (US$495 million) from 408 million euros (US$521 million) a year earlier. Meanwhile, revenues rose 14 percent year-on-year to 2.76 billion euros (US$3.52 billion).
