For its first-quarter revenue, the American technology giant posted a 7 percent year-on-year dip to US$2.99 billion, while net loss was US$1.68 billion from net profit of US$89 million in the previous year.

Sun recently announced that it will chop up to 6,000 jobs, or 18 percent of the workforce, in a bid to create cost savings of US$700 million to US$800 million each year.
