Founded in 1968, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is one of the oldest providers of IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services in India.

The IT services powerhouse is part of Tata Group, one of Asia's largest conglomerates, and is headquartered in Mumbai, India.

In October, TCS announced plans to buy over all of Citigroup's stake in Citigroup Global Services--the India-based BPO arm of Citigroup--for US$505 million. With this acquisition, TCS is now the No. 2 BPO company in India.

Meanwhile, TCS continues to expand its footprint in China. The Indian IT services giant recently unveiled a 300-seat global delivery center in Tianjin, China, its fourth Chinese delivery center after Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. TCS' China operation currently employs 1,300 people.
