Xerox

Xerox, a name that is synonymous with the word "photocopy", is an American global document management company.

Founded in 1906, the company is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, and employs some 57,400 people around the world. Its main businesses are in office and production equipment as well as consulting and outsourcing. It ranks 144th on the 2008 Fortune 500.

In May, Xerox gave a sneak peek of its cured ink for digital printers--which is said to work on almost anything--at the print trade show in Drupa in Germany.

Affected by the economic downturn, Xerox in October announced plans to trim its workforce by 5 percent--or 3,000 jobs--over the next six months. The move is expected to help the company save some US$200 million.

Xerox posted US$258 million net income for the third quarter ended Sep. 30.

This company is listed in Networking & Communications.
