Formerly known as Computer Associates, CA is one of the world's largest IT management software makers.

The Islandia, New York-based company was founded in 1976, and employs some 13,700 people worldwide, of which more than 5,300 are developers. It has 150 offices in over 45 countries.

Under its "Enterprise IT Management" vision, CA's portfolio includes a wide range of products for both distributed computing and mainframe environments, such as database management, security management, IT service and asset management, as well as application performance management.

Recently, the American enterprise software company made two security-related acquisitions in two months. In a bid to grow its presence in the identity and access management software space, CA bought over identity management company IDFocus and Israel-based Eurekify.

CA ranks among ZDNet Asia's Top 10 fastest-growing companies for 2008/2009.
