HTC


High Tech Computer Corporation, commonly known by its abbreviation HTC, is the maker of the world's first Android smartphone G1 launched recently by T-Mobile USA.

Founded in 1997 by chairwoman Cher Wang, the daughter of one of Taiwan's wealthiest men Wang Yung-ching, HTC is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Taiwanese manufacturer of handheld devices started off as an original design manufacturer, but today, it also sells a line of products under its own brand names, including HTC, Dopod and Qtek. Dopod, a subsidiary of HTC, was acquired by the company in 2006.

HTC continues to make operator-branded products and provide support to its original equipment manufacturer partners. It aims to become the "leading innovative supplier of mobile information and communication devices".

HTC ranks among ZDNet Asia's Top 10 fastest-growing companies for 2008/2009.
