The Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Servers unlock the potential of your data center to bring computing, networking, and virtualization together.
Learn how you can incrementally build a unified data center, while enjoying significant ROI.
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is a proprietary Cisco advanced distance-vector classless routing protocol. By "advanced," we are saying that it is better than the other distance vector protocols, like RIP (Routing Information Protocol), for example. "Classless" means that it will be advertising the subnet mask information in its updates. This white paper will introduce you to EIGRP and discuss some of its new features.

73 days ago by 3ComA Tier 1 mobile carrier was operating a statewide network of more than 1,000 cell sites interconnecting with 2 primary Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs). The challenge was to reduce leased network transport costs in the face of planned capacity growth, while positioning the backhaul network to support 3G broadband data services. CFN analyzed the wireless carrier's embedded access transport circuits, costs, and growth requirements at the facilities level between the cell sites and the MSC, and between the MSC and the public switched network. Leveraging its FiberSource design platform and network optimization tools, CFN designed an optimized fiber network that directly connected the MSCs and pushed interconnection points with the LEC out from the MSCs to 7 strategically placed LEC central office collocations.

Instrumentation Laboratory had to find high performance, high capacity core switches that could handle the number of VLANs that they needed. As a solution Seven 3Com Switch 8814 modular core switches located at the company's Bedford location and two more Switch 8814s at a remote site in Orangeburg, New York, support 550 network users and some 800 nodes in the United States and Europe.
108 days ago by 3ComWith the introduction of VMware ESX, many virtualization administrators are managing virtual switches inside the hypervisor. This paper will help virtualization and network administrators understand the available virtual networking features. This paper includes improvements resulting from updates VMware vSphere 4 Update 1 (including VMware ESX 4.0u1) and Cisco Nexus 1000V Version 1.2.

All have a few characteristics in common. Beyond that, they diverge into well-defined groups of products with shared characteristics. This paper summarizes the most important characteristics shared by all KVM solutions; defines the difference between analog and digital products; and then provides an overview on each of the sub-categories: Matrix KVM, High-density KVM, IP-Based KVM and LCD KVM.
113 days ago by ATEN TechnologyDigital KVM switches convert the analog signal from the server console ports into digital signals. This makes transmitting the signals over computer networks possible, such as IP networks, which enables the user to access the KVM switch via a web browser from virtually anywhere. Digital switches are typically also known as IP-Based KVM. Analog KVM switches will merely pass the analog KVM signal from the server to the target console via Server Interface Modules (SIMs) or dongles. Analog KVM switches may be connected to an external IP-Based device that converts the analog signal to a digital signal, to transmit that signal over IP networks.

In Cisco IOS, ACLs are used for many things, including, but not limited to, filtering data packets (firewalling), controlling Telnet or SSH access to a router or switch, filtering routing protocols, specifying Quality of Service (QoS), and controlling encryption, NAT, and Dial-on-Demand.
